Albany, NY has many residents who proudly proclaim their Irish roots. It’s even the home of the Irish American Heritage Museum. So St Patrick’s Day is a really popular occasion in the area. The festivities usually start off with the St Patrick’s Day parade, which occurs on the Saturday before March 17th. This year’s parade was challenged by a brutal combination of extreme cold and wind, which significantly limited the size of the crowds. Nevertheless, many folks still came out to celebrate. In keeping with the American spirit, many of them weren’t even Irish. But as the saying goes, on St Patrick’s Day everyone is Irish! 🙂
